Az. G. Milazzo - Castello Svevo | Sicilia DOP (Sicilia) |BIO

Red wine | Italy, SICILIA | 2022
Bright ruby red in colour with purple reflections. The nose is expressive and fruity, with aromas of red rose, blackberry and raspberry, complemented by subtle spicy and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is fresh and supple, with a beautiful balance between ripe red fruit and lively acidity. Soft tannins provide structure, while the fruity and spicy notes return on the pleasant finish.

Vinification
The grapes come from the organically farmed Munti vineyards, with vines averaging more than 10 years of age. The vineyards are situated on gentle slopes with deep, highly organic soils, and the vines are trained using the Guyot system. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in 14 kg crates. After gentle destemming, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation and maceration for approximately one week. It is then aged for around 12 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by approximately four months of bottle ageing.

About Az. G. Milazzo

Azienda Agricola G. Milazzo is located near Campobello di Licata, in the province of Agrigento, in southern Sicily. The estate comprises 97 hectares of vineyards, situated at around 400 metres above sea level on the hills northeast of Campobello di Licata. The Milazzo family has been connected to traditional Sicilian agriculture for more than 150 years. They have farmed organically since the mid-1980s, and since 2011 all their own land has been organically certified. Alongside international varieties, they place great importance on indigenous grapes and the preservation of old biotypes. The kingfisher, the estate’s symbol, represents their commitment to nature and biodiversity.
