Our Story
From Stacking Crates to Importing Wine

What do Steve Jobs, The Beatles, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, and Marc Dulst have in common? They all started out in a garage with a hobby that eventually became their profession. In his garage, Marc Dulst began stacking wine crates. He tasted, compared, and soon started giving wine advice to family and friends. One character trait quickly stood out.

The glass of wine Is always half full

Some people see the glass as half empty. Others see it as half full. Marc Dulst has always belonged to the latter. Not just because he turned his passion for wine into a profession early on, but because he truly believes in approaching life with a positive outlook.

That’s why DULST Wijn met Advies aims to “bring a smile to people’s faces with every sip of our wines.”

It’s this perspective—on wine, on winemakers, and on wine lovers—that has helped DULST grow over the past 25 years into a trusted name among Belgian wine importers.

Passion brings both disappointment and knowledge out of his passion for wine, Marc Dulst developed the Qivino wine preservation system. It attracted plenty of attention but never became a lasting success. Still, the glass remains half full. Thanks to that experience, Marc is now perfectly positioned to advise on today’s preservation technologies—from vacuum systems to the Coravin wine system and professional wine dispensers. And then there’s this. After completing his wine studies, Marc experienced what he calls a “rosé trauma.” At the time, a certain light, slightly sparkling rosé was served almost everywhere—a Portuguese wine in an oval bottle with a biblical name. As a trained oenologist, he was deeply disappointed by its quality. Yet Marc Dulst remained intrigued by...

A Focus on European Wines

Wine is so much more than just taste. Behind every bottle stands a winemaker, working a specific terroir with a unique approach—more and more inspired by a deep respect for nature and all the goodness it offers.

DULST Wijn met Advies: Following Winemakers Up Close
At DULST Wijn met Advies, we follow our winemakers closely. Marc Dulst and his team regularly visit vineyards in person. That’s why DULST focuses exclusively on wines from Europe.

As Marc Dulst puts it:
“We import French, Italian, German, Austrian, Portuguese, and Spanish wines directly. But beware—of the thousands of wines we taste each year, we select barely ten percent. Our key criteria? Quality and price, direct contact with the winemakers, their respect for tradition, and our nose for emerging trends in the wine world.”

The emphasis lies on a broad selection of French, Italian, and Spanish wines, including lesser-known appellations—ranging from outstanding local wines to Grand Cru Classé. Belgian wines also have a well-earned place in the DULST range. With the Hageland wine region just around the corner, that’s no coincidence.

DULST mainly imports mise au château and mise au domaine wines. One thing you can always count on? A fair price for an honest wine.

From One Garage to a 1,500 m² Wine Cellar
Steve Jobs, The Beatles, Bill Gates, and Walt Disney didn’t stay in their garages for long. And neither did Marc Dulst—his quickly became too small. Of course, his business didn’t grow quite like theirs... but chances are, Marc Dulst has enjoyed more wine than all of them combined. And he wants the customers of DULST Wijn met Advies to enjoy it just as much.

Today, DULST Wijn met Advies has over 1,500 m² of underground storage space, where every bottle is kept in perfect conditions. The wine cellars were specially designed to allow wines to mature beautifully and safely over time.

Now, the bottles are simply waiting for that festive moment when you open them—bringing a smile to the faces of those you share them with.

The Glass of Wine Is Always Half Full
Some people see the glass as half empty. Others see it as half full. Marc Dulst clearly belongs to the latter. Not just because he turned his passion for wine into a profession, but because he truly believes in the power of a positive outlook on life.

That same mindset is at the heart of DULST Wijn met Advies, whose mission is simple: “to bring a smile to people’s faces with every sip of our wines.”

It’s this perspective—on wine, on the people who make it, and on those who enjoy it—that has helped DULST Wijn met Advies grow over the past 25 years into a trusted name among Belgian wine importers.
